  1. Realign Feature Tool

    For XPSWMM and Infoworks (any GUI editor you have actually):

    Moving an existing line substantially is something that occasionally happens. If we could do this without having to delete the entire thing, or click and drag each vertex one at a time, it would be a big help at times.

    A new feature I’d like to see for lines/polygons is a ‘realign feature’ tool. When selected, if you clicked on a vertex in a line or on a polygon boundary (single click and release), it would ‘grab’ that vertex and allow you to move it. Once you place it by…

  2. Add SWMM5 Ideal Pump to InfoWorks ICM

    Does InfoWorks ICM have an equivalent to an ideal pump in SWMM which pumps whatever is entering the SPS out of the SPS?

    It would be a good feature to include into infoworks as I needed to play around a bit to get it. I found I had to add line 2 or the pump kept on turning off rather than flow pacing.

    I have seen a screw pump used previously to pump out what comes into the SPS but dependent upon the head discharge parameters this can back up the incoming sewer. If I set a curve similar to…

  3. Sort by Validation Error in Grid View

    Allow columns in grid views to be sorted by validation error(s). This would make fixing validation errors much easier.

    For example, when modelled pipes/nodes are updated from the GIS, the Subcatchments sometimes lose their Node ID link as the node names may have changed. Being able to sort these validation issues to the top of the grid would make fixing the errors much easier. This would be particularly useful across multiple scenarios since the selection list created from the validation can't be saved with the "un-shown" objects from a different scenario.

  4. RTC - New time range to allow "between 2 dates" every year

    In a similar way to the way "time repeat" works, can we have an RTC range that works between the same 2 dates every year. I have a catchment where the operating protocol works differently in the Bathing Season from the rest of the year. Having a way to check with one range if we are in the bathing season or not would avoid the clunky work arounds.

  5. Total sediment ( SF1+SF2).

    In the result “graph” and “table” window add a new field for “total sediment” which presents the mass flow and the concentration of “sf1”+”sf2”

  6. Local water quality settings.

    User can set local water quality parameters and local initial condition of Water Quality in ICM rather than globally.
    Local WQ parameter should at least contain decay rate, DO process coefficient etc..
    As for the local initial condition, DO concentration and other pollutants concentration could be set for each river reach.
    For example, for one node or one link it could have a local “decay” in itself. And for the initial condition every node or link can have different intial pollution concentrations.

  7. Modelling of Septicity

    As a sewer modeller I have occasionally been asked about odour generation in sewer networks. I have noticed that DO (dissolved oxygen) and BOD (biochemical oxygen demand) are both inputs in the wastewater and trade-waste model groups of Infoworks ICM SE. Given that these are possible inputs in a sewer model, is it possible to model the consumption of DO by BOD within the network to determine where and when the sewage becomes anaerobic and prone to odour generation? This would be particularly useful if you wanted to model the addition of a high BOD low volume trade waste stream…

  8. Reduce validation time of models with river banks or inline banks

    Current validation of models with bank lines takes a long long time for larger models, Up to several hours. My first guess is that checking a vertice bank level against the mesh level is the probelm. Same thing happens when you want to update ground levels from the mesh. This is also very very slow. It would help productivity speed if this could be reduced significantly

  10. AutoCAD objects on Conversion

    As a user, I would like InfoWorks to recoginze Civil3D objects as objects and not require me to resolve the model to dumb elements

  11. Add a modelling confidence field into the User Defined Flags

    This could simply be an additional free text field in the "User Defined Flags" window labelled "confidence" OR the user is able to define their own but they are limited to 5-7 options.

    The benefit is that when users pick up a model they better understand the confidence associated with each flag. Generally the "Description" field is currently seen as a "source" field. The users can then use SQLs / Ruby to build their own model confidence tools as they see fit while allowing greater transparency and functionality.

  12. Export results to CSV/Database with a more flexible selection list in ICMLive

    In ICMLive, we can now export results to CSV/Database with a pre-defined selection list. In ICM, we can have a more flexible way.
    For example if I hope to export results point (2D), initially I may have 1 million points. What we can do in ICM is, run a SQL to query points with sim.max_depth2d > 0.05, then save them to a selection list. We may only have 0.1 million points to export.
    Can we have a similar function in ICMLive, which combines SQL and selection list?

  13. Rating curves / equations as downstream boundaries

    At the moment we can use 'user control' links to act upstream of the DS boundary. These links have head/flow/power as their inputs. It would be useful to have a dedicated object that could be either a look up table of levels (rather than heads) and discharges, or an equation that would define the level / discharge relationship. Note that if an equation option were selected then it would need to be multi-part to allow for a changing relationship as water goes out of bank.

  14. Agricultural pollution.

    Including agricultural pollution in the model. Such as fertilization and pesticide application. These pollutions can buildup rapidely on the surface and washoff during irrigation and rainfall period. Some common model softwares such as SWAT and WASP have this simulation process.

    Add environmental capacity calculation in ICM, user can easily find how much pollution the river can receive at each time step and each river’s total environment capacity during the whole simulatiton.

  16. "jet flow" and agitation (inflow with a certain speed)

    In China, efforts are being made to improve black and smelly water bodies. One of the measures is to increase water fluidity to improve water quality through natural purification of water bodies. So there are two measures to increase the fluidity of water body: "jet flow" and agitation. We need to add these two measures to ICM. In one-dimensional river or two-dimensional water body, the simulation of "jet" device is added to realize the setting of an inflow into the model at a certain speed.   17. Calculatiton speed with diffusion needs to improve.

    Diffusion will seriously slow down the model culculation. But generally the water quality models have to run for several years. With current simulation speed that would be unlikely to do a water quality simulation with diffusion.

  19. Export Flood Profile from ICM to AutoCAD Civil 3D Profile file

    While exporting to AutoCAD DWG file format is ok - we used AutoCAD Civil 3D for drawing profiles. Can you just create a Profile file? or use LandXML to represent this information.
