Realistic ground profile for swales
This is a flaw that's been going since MicroDrainage, but when you change the type of a connection from a pipe to an open channel, like a swale, there's no information at all provided about the actual size of that feature.
I had one come in the other day, only attenuation on the whole site was in a swale. Parameters for the swale has been set 0.5m base width, 1:3 side slopes, Mannings n 0.03, everything normal and okay with this, right?
But the manholes at the top and bottom of the link that had been turned into the swale…

If you try to build your swales using the SWCs rather than converting links to swales, you will see that you can start from the top area and go down (1:3) or you can start from the bottom and go up (1:3).
Does the above address your suggestion? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts once you try it.

Perforated pipes
This will be hard to implement so it's kind of a longer term ambition, but it would be really helpful if InfoDrainage could properly model a perforated pipe.
Pretty often we have a perforated pipe below a structure - what would now be called a stormwater control - like a permeable car park or a swale. The "main" flow is running through the pipe, usually because depth won't permit it to be sent directly into a shallow feature, but as the hydraulic head rises water infiltrates out of the pipe in a gravel trench and builds up until it fills…

Within SWCs, we have added an option called Under Drain, with this option, you can model a perforated pipe, and once the pipe is out of the system into the flow control chamber, it won't be perforated anymore so you can use a conventional pipe to model it.
Please feel free to touch base with our support team if you have any questions on the above.

We are working on enhancing the long section, so it shows more data in the tables, and we made it flexible so users can select what to view. We are also working on annotating the Hydraulic Grade Line and the Energy Grade Line. This is now on our road map for future releases of InfoDrainage.

Fall column
Include a column in the connection design table that displays an editable 'fall' value, i.e. calculated value of US/IL - DS/IL, used to be a handy feature in MicroDrainage Network

Better Level Coordination of Swales
InfoDrainage 2023.2
If you have a swale with several branches discharging into it the invert level of those branches is fixed at the swales outlet invert level and not at the bed level corresponding to its position along the swale.1 voteThank you for the suggestion and thanks to those who commented and voted.
We agree that in scenarios where multiple pipes are discharging into a steep swale at various points, the bed level might not be the best level to sync to. This has been discussed and it's been agreed that we will interpolate the right level using the centre line and sync the connection to it. This is now in the road map for future implementation.

Automatic M5-60 and R values based on Location
Most models are built on surveys that are on National Grid Coordinates. It would therefore be good for the rainfall data to automatically generate M5-60 and R values based on NGC for the site with the option to click Map and reposition if necessary.

FSR is an outdated rainfall method which was developed in the 1970s, this is why various LLFAs around the UK are now rejecting drainage statements submissions when FSR was used as a rainfall. This is one of the reasons why we would be hesitant to invest into investing more time into this. We are currently working on FEH22 implementation which will be made available to UK customers in future releases of the software.
However, FSR has a 1km2 resolution, therefore, you can still get the exact site accuratley by hoovering over the map and keeping an eye on the coordinates on the top-left corner (see screenshot). Take one coordinate from your site and use the first three digits from the easting and the first three digits from the northing to establish the exact location on the FSR…

InfoDrainage 2023.3 Quick Storage Estimate Print Outs
Please can a function to print out the quick storage estimates and results summary be made available. Whilst they should only be used for concept designs, it would be useful to have this information for record to show the design process

Mixed decimal place
I'm using InforDrainage 2023.1 and there are mixed numbers after decimal point. In profile view, there are five digit after decimal point which is unnecessary.

Levels for "junction" items
When using the "junction" connection item, it always sets the cover level on the item to 0. This is true even if you had a manhole that had a proper cover and invert level input, if you switch the manhole to a junction (for instance because you don't want to falsely include the volume of a manhole that isn't actually there) then it jumps the cover to 0 and the invert to -1.5. (It might not do it if you have a ground model in, not sure, I usually work without).
You can fix it by going across to the…

In InfoDrainage, junctions are used as nodes without volume to enable modelling a Y or T junction, or it could be a point in the middle of a culvert that is getting wider for some reason.
You are right; when the pipe US and DS cover levels are 0, and the junction has a level of 0, the model will find no way to design the system and run the design wizard. Therefore, to address this, we've implemented a warning message that will stop users from proceeding with the design if they have junctions and the associated ends of the pipe have a 0 level (that hasn't been overwritten). Users can still use the level 0 but they need to overwrite the default 0 to proceed. The warning message will be made available to users in a…

Please can the output drawings be able to be produced in landscape.
When using the extend view to produce drawings it appears to be only able to undertake in portrait. Also the title block cannot be changed in size which can make the drawings untidy. Finally can there be an option to move the lables around so they do not clash.
3 votesYou can scale the labels in InfoDrainage from the display setting to ensure that they do not clash.
Does the above address your suggestion re moving labels?

Improved tutorial for setting up a network
InfoDrainage - i am just trailing software and using the metric tutorial. i do not like loading in items from MicroDrainage or AutoCAD and was hoping the tutorial would show how to quickly setup a highway drainage system with pipes/manholes/gullies.
when asked "was this page helpful" i put thumbs down, hoping to get a chance to say the above but i cannot type in the feedback form. please update chapter 2 "creating the network" so that new users can setup a simple network - all ive done is click buttons to load random data and do not feel like i…5 votes -
InfoDrainage - Split subcatchments option for Laurenson runoff routing method
It is industry best practice to split up the subcatchments in a model into their pervious and impervious areas when adopting the Laurenson (or RAFTS) runoff routing method ie U = 2 and U = 0. The current workflow to achieve this is to setup the model with 2 subcatchments representing the impervious and pervious surfaces within a subcatchment. Existing Innovyze software (ICM and XPSWMM/XPSTORM) provide the user the ability to split the area of a catchment up into a number of different runoff surfaces. A feature like this would be great to have for InfoDrainage.

Formatting of Reports
The output reports from Infordrainage, are not set to fit the page and as such, there is a lot of "white space" left on the outputs. At present, there are no formatting options to change this. It makes the drainage report look a bit untidy.
